From Invercargill to Cape Reinga, we walked an imaginary line up the islands in an increasingly competitive office challenge.
With our standardized, office issued pedometers at the ready, our in-house health promotions committee of Donna, Kendal and Lynne, divided the Christchurch team into four, and gave us four weeks get to Cape Reinga – one step at a time.
The first week was a little uneventful, but for the realization that many of us were moving much less than the recommended 10,000 steps per day. Others, of course, were vastly over-compensating for their more sedentary team-mates. But after the ‘week one’ prize was issued and the team progress pins were placed on the map, things took a more competitive turn.
In total, 36 people racked up 7,802.13kms over the four weeks.
Congratulations to Team Harriet for making it to Cape Reinga before returning 24kms back down 90 Mile Beach with a total of 2,186.11kms travelled to take out the challenge.
Special thanks to Donna, Kendal and Lynne for getting us moving and having fun along the way.
