Supporting communities through community is the theme behind the latest addition to the Abbott Hamilton fleet, a purpose-built twin grill BBQ trailer.
The idea is simple but powerful. Food connects us and helps communities grow. So, whether it’s a humble sausage-in-bread down at the local footie club, or a fundraising event for a school, sport or service club, the Hamilton BBQ trailer is about community-building.
It’s also practical.
Hamilton Manager John Boyles (JB) said he’s received several sponsorship requests in his first year as branch manager but the reality is, very few actually meet the commercial reality ‘test’ or fit within the team’s local budget.
He says it’s a real dilemma for businesses that want to support their local communities.
“There’s so much need out there, so many worthy causes, and sponsorship can seem a bit transactional. We wanted to do something that lends a helping hand to those that really need it without them having to give us anything specific in return.
“Anyone local can borrow our BBQ trailer to use for community, charity or fundraising events. There’s no charge. We’ll even contribute a full bottle of gas to keep the burners running.”
The new Hamilton BBQ trailer is officially ready to fire up at local community-building or fundraising events with its first outing locked in at Te Rapa Rugby Club’s Junior Prizegiving this weekend.
Aaron Beere, Abbott Hamilton Assistant Manager and Te Rapa club member will be wielding the tongs and in charge of returning the trailer spic and span. As he’s the go-to guy for storing the trailer, it should be a good test run.
“That’s all we ask,” says Aaron. “Bring your own BBQ tools, have a great day, and return it clean, tidy and on time, ready for the next user.”
The team is taking local bookings for the BBQ trailer. If you have a community event or fundraiser coming up, simply email email@example.com to lock it in.
Thinking of borrowing the Hamilton BBQ trailer?
In addition to supplying your own BBQ tools, food and condiments, and everything else you’ll need to ensure a hassle-free day behind the grill, the team has a few simple requests to ensure the Hamilton BBQ trailer stays in tip-top shape for many years of community service to come.
